I want to learn how to build sustainable livelihoods outside of capitalist frameworks. To that end, I am offering these writing support sessions through a gift-economics model. There are no set fees, allowing lower-income people to access them, but folks of means are encouraged to generously give to make these offerings financially sustainable for me and thereby accessible to more people.
Offering my knowledge and skillset through a gift-economics model is one politically aligned way in which I am trying to make my writing practice more financially sustainable. I am turning to these writing support sessions as another means of exploring how I can continue investing in creative writing—and other life and community endeavors—without giving up the scheduling flexibility that I need.
I CAN HELP WITH…
-
In 2020, I completed a master’s in creative writing at Cornell University. During my time in the program, I participated in several feedback-centered workshops and taught introduction to creative writing courses. As a teaching artist, I taught poetry classes to elementary school students and I have also developed community-based creative writing workshops for people across multiple age groups.
I can offer developmental editing support for poems, poetry manuscripts, creative essays, and, a bit more tentatively, short stories. If you are new to creative writing, I can also offer hands-on introductory workshops or a more intensive series on the art of poetry.
-
I graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Comparative Literature. I’ve also completed a number of English graduate courses and have taught introduction to composition classes.
I love cultural and social theory and would love to support the development of academic essays and/or journal articles in these or other adjacent fields in the humanities and social sciences.
-
In addition to applying for multiple colleges and graduate school programs, I have also applied for and received several fellowship and scholarship awards to support my academic and creative writing endeavors. These include the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans and the Henry Richardson Labouisse '26 Prize
I can help develop college or graduate school applications and fellowship/scholarship essays that require you to tell your story or advocate for a particular vision or project.

I don’t have professional grant-writing experience, but if there is a politically-aligned community org that needs support, I can try to help.
SUGGESTED GIVING RANGES
A key principle of gift economics is striving to be clear and transparent about the level of giving that would make a program sustainable for the long-term. When we meet, I will share a breakdown of suggested giving ranges. They were calculated based on my financial needs and adjusted according to people’s incomes and the principle of generous giving.
